Hello! I'm recently an owner of a '67 Beetle and needless to say I'm learning a lot.

I see there is plenty of knowledge (and support) here and I look forward to being a part of the community. Very Happy

Welcome to the forum. It really laid back here, so sometimes we're slow to respond. But we're all nice folks.

Did you buy a restored bug or an average 40+ year old bug? ... if you are like me it needs work (in November I bought a 71 beetle)...Welcome to the site... some of these guys are real pros!

Nice to meet everyone!

The guy I bought it from is a restorer and as far as most things go it's in pretty good shape. The outside and interor look nice and the engine is clean with only a few hiccups. Well, speaking of the engine... it's actually from a '66 so it's only a 6 volt. The day after I got it I realized the generator was shot and I needed to replace that as well as the battery. Eventually I'd like to shitch it up to a 12 volt and see what it can really do. Wink

It runs well enough but there seems to be a growing list of little problems I need to fix up before it's totally good to go. But I have the feeling I'll always find something to work on it.

Welcome to the site!! I would switch it to 12 volt right away. You will have to change every light bulb, the horn, and the starter.Don't forget the radio,if it has one. JT

if you are doing wiring the 6 volt takes bigger gauge wire... don't want a melt down!
