well in new to the forum so hello.

the car im working on is the first car i turned a wrench on when i was 7years old (23 now)

anyways i went to go get the bug. started up with a jump (hasn't been ran in about 6 months) drove for about 15 miles then it stalled and wouldn't restart. i let it set for a while then was able to push start it. i was able to almost get it back to the house before it died again and wouldn't restart.

do you think it could be the battery, or gen?

i did put fresh gas in it though

A bit more info would help. What year VW? It wouldn't be a bad idea to clean out the carb.Give it a general tune up and see if the helps. JT

Also check the connections at the battery terminal. They tend to corrode and you won't charge the bettery too well. But it does sound like it could be the battery. A trip toi the auto parts store to have it load tested is free. A new battery isn't, though.

check your fuel filter and carb...most parts shops will check the alternator or generator and the battery... but if it was just the battery it should have continued to run once you got it started... do the tune up first and congrats on the new bug...
