That was actually my 2nd Gremlin. My girlfriend wrecked and totaled my first. She pulled out in front of a Jeep going 85 MPH. She cracked a finger and bit her inner lip.

I was cleaning up my out-building. It is a small 9x12 "room" built on a pre-existing hand-poured concrete slab that was crooked, unlevel and bumpy. But, you have to work with what you've got. It had a shed built on it when we bought the house that was made out of wooden pallates. I built a Lean-to against it to put the dune buggy in, but when I was blessed with a riding lawn mower, the dune buggy got moved.
I moved my bikes from the building to the lean-to and was looking for the best place to hang the new hooks. Hung from the rafters of the lean-to were my VW bumpers for a few projects. A bumper for my '67 beetle, a bumper for my 69 Autostick, and the front bumper for my Karmann Ghia. What I couldn't find was the back bumper for the Ghia. I knew I had it. But it was nowhere to be found. I looked and looked; fearing that it had been stolen. I had a sinking feeling in my gut knowing what they would cost to replace. I finally walked to the Ghia. There still mounded proudly was the rear bumper. I thought to myself, "You big dummy." and went about my cleaning.
